New York Table & Stools

Two tables arrived at our warehouse last week. One is Ercol, made as always out of lovely elm, looking very tired and sad for itself, but I know from past experience that it will come up a treat. The other is chunky solid oak and bares the scars of possibly being a work bench. This might put some people off but it is such a sturdy table that I thought I could do a rustic/American look on it.

Here are the two tables as promised, the elm on the Ercol table has come up very nicely, it is an attractive grain, nice colour and hard wearing. The oak table is a lot of fun and despite its age has a contemporary feel. I went with New York and a few of its street names (i think) not having been there myself. As luck would have it, two stools came in a couple of days ago and were spotted by an eagled-eyed member of staff. He suggested that they might fit in with the scheme and that's exactly what's happened. The stools are not quite finished, they need varnishing which will be done next week then they can go in the showroom.

The stool have since been finished.

What is Upcycling

Upcycling is the process of taking an item that is no longer needed or wanted, and giving it a new lease of life. This could be as simple as giving it a lick of paint and some new handles... or reinventing it to produce something entirely new, or as we like to say - better than new.
